Gluten-Free Kitchen August Menu

August is here, the kids are off school and the holidays are in full swing. We have also been extremely lucky with the weather in the last month or two! That’s why we've put together a seasonal menu for this month which utilises fresh produce that tastes the best in August. Get the guests around and pair white with a chilled bottle of wine for a wonderful summer evening feast.

Starter: Baba Ghanouch Aubergine Tarts
Gluten-free, vegetarian

Aubergines are widely considered an exotic delicacy but they are actually in season from June to October in the UK! Take advantage of these low-calorie delights packed with antioxidants in this veggie tart recipe from Delicious.  You can use our ready-to-roll savoury pastry making them even easier to prepare and can even be cooked and set aside to cool and ready to serve later. Packed with mint, parsley and coriander as well as garlic and tahini these herby tarts originate from western Asia and are a great starter to kick off the evening.

These simple, light, fresh shortcrust slices from Fooby topped with blueberries are a great dinner closer. No one wants to spend hours cooking up a complicated dessert in the heat of summer and these are the perfect solutions. Featuring a sweet mascarpone cream layer and some lemon zest along with a generous helping of blueberries these will tickle the tastebuds and please your guests - they'll never know you used ready-to-roll pastry! We think they are great on their own but you can pair them with some vanilla ice cream if you fancy it.
