We have some scrumptious offerings in this month's menu which uses produce that is at its very best at this time of year and will make you ready for those cosy Autumn evenings!

The kids are back at school and Summer is drawing to a close which means we are getting ready for those slightly cooler evenings. With that in mind, we have some scrumptious offerings in this month's menu which again, uses produce that is at its very best at this time of year.  

Starter: Buffalo Cauliflower Wings
Vegan, gluten free


We love this vegan and gluten free twist on spicey buffalo wings from Simple Vegan Blog! Paired with a yummy buffalo wing sauce packed with garlic, paprika and cayenne powder these are perfect to kick off the evening with cauliflower in abundance at this time of year. A healthy alternative to chicken wings these gorgeous little delights are super easy to prepare and an inexpensive starter too!


Main: Chicken and Wild Mushroom Pie

Fresh, wild mushrooms are another great seasonal ingredient in September. If you are knowledgeable when it comes to mushrooms you can forage for some Porcini or Giant Puffballs to slice up and put in this tasty pie. From none other than the Hairy Bikers this chicken and wild mushroom pie is a solid, hearty pie that everyone can enjoy a generous slice of. Now, whilst some people make this dish with puff pastry you can cut out all the hard work by using our gluten-free ready-to-roll shortcrust pastry instead - we think it makes it even better! You can even prebake this classic dish and simply reheat it when your guests arrive. Just make sure to use gluten-free alternative ingredients when rustling this recipe up.

Dessert: Fig and Frangipane Tarts

Round up the night with these little, bite-sized fig tarts. With a fruity sweet almost honey-like flavour, they are the perfect early Autumn dessert. This recipe is a popular bake from English chef and writer,  Rick Stein and tastes amazing. Just grab a roll of our ready-to-roll shortcrust pastry to cut the time spent making these wonderful desserts down by half. All it takes is whisking up some eggs and adding in a bit of almond extract then assembling with your figs before baking until golden.
